For about the last month and a half, the Sheriff’s Office as been assisting with the escorts of wind turbine components. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding, allowed the escorts to be completed safely, while creating the least amount of disruption to traffic as possible. The oversize load permit obtained by the hauling companies required law enforcement to escort the components through a section of roads within Delta County. The Sheriff’s Office was reimbursed by the trucking company for Deputies working the detail. Many have asked how the large parts are moved and the Deputies have seen many children along the route who wanted to see. For those interested, the Sheriff’s Office has decided to share a video showing the largest of the components (the blades) being moved. Parts of the video have been sped up for time. The sections shown in the video are 18th Rd/J Rd, Co 416 J Rd/21st Rd and South Hill Rd/US-2.
