The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) is working with military officials to try to locate a trucker who apparently abandoned a military vehicle that was bound for South Dakota.
The military vehicle was found by an NSP trooper on the morning of Thursday, August 20.
According to NSP, the military vehicle was sitting on a parked trailer on an I-80 on-ramp near Overton, Nebraska.
The trooper noticed that the vehicle had markings that identified it as belonging to the South Dakota National Guard.
NSP says that they later learned that the military vehicle was abandoned sometime yesterday by the driver of a trucking company contracted to move the vehicle for the Guard.
The military vehicle was en route from a training mission in California back to South Dakota when it was abandoned.
Troopers are working with the South Dakota National Guard to return the vehicle to South Dakota, as well as locate the driver who abandoned the trailer and military vehicle.
To the trucking company that left this #tank on the side of the interstate in central Nebraska: We would like to talk to you! I’m sure @DeptofDefense would as well!@NSP_TroopD #NSP131 pic.twitter.com/evUvwvpwtO
