
A major crash involving an pilot car sent a semi truck crashing off of a bridge onto I-70 in Kansas yesterday.
The crash happened around 1 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon about three miles north of Salina, Kansas.
According to a crash report from the Kansas Highway Patrol, a pilot car driven by was stopped on I-135 south of I-70 to allow a truck hauling an oversized load to merge onto northbound U.S. 81.
Troopers say that a semi truck traveling north on I-135 hit the pilot car, then “drove out of control across northbound lanes of I-135 and struck a concrete bridge railing.” The semi truck continued through the bridge railing and vaulted onto the eastbound lanes of I-70 where it came to rest.

A pickup was struck by debris falling onto I-70.
Both occupants of the pilot car and the driver of the semi that crashed off of the bridge were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
