Truck driver ejected after fatal collision with train

A truck driver was killed over the weekend after his rig was struck by a train.

The incident occurred on Saturday, September 26th at around 2:30 p.m. just south of Rock Port, Missouri. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that 52-year-old truck driver, Troy Landess, was attempting to use a private railroad crossing near Highway 111 when his Mack truck was struck by an oncoming train. The force of the impact partially ejected Landess from the cab.

Landess was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, but succumbed to his injuries. 

According to 175 News Press Now, the railroad crossing was controlled by a stop sign and Landess was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
