Truck driver killed in grain silo collapse

Indiana authorities have confirmed that a truck driver lost his life in an accident at a grain silo on Wednesday morning.

The fatal accident occurred on the morning of December 30 in rural Morgan County, Indiana.

Authorities say that the the 27 year old truck driver had stepped out of his truck and was on-loading corn from a grain silo when the bottom of the bin collapsed, pinning the man between the silo and truck.

Crews with the Indianapolis Fire Department, Madison Township Fire Department, Mooresville Fire Department, Brown Township Fire Department, White River Township Fire Department and the Bargersville Fire Department were called to the scene to try to free the trapped truck driver.

The Indianapolis Fire Department confirmed that the truck driver did not survive.

Local news outlet WTHR reports that the truck driver had only worked for his current employer for a few weeks.

The accident is under investigation.
