Truck stop fire that burned four big rigs under investigation

Connecticut authorities are working to determine the cause of a fire that damaged several trucks and left a firefighter injured.

The fire occurred on Thursday afternoon at a Pilot Travel Center on Old Gate Lane in Milford, Connecticut.

The Milford Fire Department said that “en-route to the scene, [firefighters] could see the heavy black smoke coming from the area … On arrival, Car 5 found two tractor-trailers involved in fire and two other trailers nearby. The diesel fuel in the trucks was also involved in the fire.”

Crews were able to extinguish the fire, but four tractor trailers were damaged.

One firefighter who responded to the blaze was transported to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Firefighters say that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
