Trucker dies after slamming into Minnesota motel

Published:

A truck driver lost his life yesterday after veering off the highway and crashing down an embankment and into a motel.

The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 16, in Mankato, Minnesota.

The Minnesota State Patrol says that 64 year old truck driver Larry Tiede was eastbound on Highway 14 when his truck left the roadway and went down an embankment before crashing into the front entrance to the River Hills Hotel.

Tiede died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

No one else was hurt.

Police say that they don’t believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. Tiede was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.

The cause of the fatal crash is still under investigation.
