Trucker hauling beer cans ejected in fatal crash

Texas police say that a truck driver did not survive an early morning single vehicle crash that left the roadway littered in beer cans.

The crash happened on Wednesday just before 4 a.m. in the Houston area.

Police say that a 35 year old truck driver was hauling a load of Bud Light beer cans on I-45 at FM 1960 when he left the interstate, crashed through a guardrail, then hit a tree.

The truck driver was ejected from his vehicle onto the interstate during the crash.

Sgt. Simon Cheng told Click2Houston, “The impact of the tree sheared open the tractor portion of the 18-wheeler and unfortunately the driver was not restrained by a seatbelt. He was ejected from the vehicle and landed on the outside lane of 45.”

The truck driver passed away at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

The incident shut down portions of the interstate for several hours for investigation and extensive cleanup efforts.

Police say that they are still investigating the cause of the crash.
