Published:

Mississippi police are asking the public for help in locating a truck driver who went missing during a trip from California to Georgia.

On July 29, the Gautier Police Department located in Mississippi put out a call for public assistance in locating 47 year old truck driver Dimitri Rai Williams.

Williams was traveling from Fresno, California, to Atlanta, Georgia, when he went missing.

Police say that the last time Williams was heard from was around 6 a.m. on Monday, July 27.

The semi truck Williams had been driving was discovered at the eastbound rest area off of I-10 in Gautier on the morning of Tuesday, July 28, after his company requested a welfare check due to the fact that GPS indicated that the truck had not moved for a long period of time.

After speaking with a groundskeeper at the rest area, police learned that as the semi truck pulled into the rest area, it had been followed by a black SUV. Williams was seen getting out of his truck and entering the black SUV on the passenger side.

Police also say that Williams has medical conditions including diabetes and multiple sclerosis.

Police say that the disappearance is considered to be suspicious.

In images provided by police, Williams has very short dark hair and a short dark beard and is wearing glasses in some photos. He also has several tattoos visible on both arms.

If you have information, you are asked to call the Gautier Police Department at 228-497-2486.
