Truckers ask Utah DOT for road striping fix after dash cam shows close call

Published:

A trucking company owner is asking the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) to act because he says confusing lane markings nearly caused one of his drivers to crash.

Silver Hawk Freight owner Ivan Souza says that the problem is occuring near the Timapnogos Highway Exit on I-15 in Lehi, where lanes have been recently remarked but the old markings are still visible.

Souza shared dash cam video from one of his drivers that shows a near miss in the southbound lanes of I-15 that he believes is caused by the visible old lane markings.

Souza is asking the Utah DOT to do something before the confusing lane markings result in a crash.

UDOT told local news outlet KSL TV that the confusion is being caused by residue left over from adhesive tape used during the striping process. They say that they are working on a fix.
