Trucker’s sweet drive takes a sour turn

Published:

Indiana State Police say that an unusual incident involving a tanker hauling sugar caused traffic backups on Tuesday.

On Tuesday morning, Sgt. Stephen Wheeles with the Indiana State Police shared photos of a disabled truck on I-74 in Dearborn County.

Wheeles said that the tanker was loaded with liquid sugar when it “broke in the middle” and became disabled on eastbound I-74 at exit 64.

Wheeles said, “So far, no sugar has escaped from the tank, avoiding a very sticky situation.”

Troopers have not provided any information on what caused the incident at this time.

Traffic delays were reported on both directions of I-74 on Tuesday morning.
