A Maryland-based trucking company is continuing their years-long partnership with a nationwide non-profit group that honors the sacrifices of the men and women of the U.S. military in a unique and moving way each year in December.

Baltimore’s Cowan Systems LLC announced that they will continue their partnership with Wreaths Across America (WAA) for the fifth year as a way to give back to their community and honor the memory of those who have served.

“I was first introduced to Wreaths across America in 2014 at a Truckload Carrier event in Washington DC. The event honoring our veterans touched my heart and I knew that night, I wanted to participate in the event going forward. Cowan Systems is a proud sponsor of WAA and is committed to volunteering every year,” remarked Dennis Morgan, President of Cowan Systems.

“When we first made the decision to become a sponsor with WAA, we weren’t exactly sure what to expect, but we knew we wanted to support and give back to this tremendous organization. Over the last five years, we’ve been able to take over four-hundred Cowan employees to Arlington to make sure every headstone at Arlington National Cemetery receives a wreath,” said Brandon Tomlinson, Cowan Systems Director of Marketing.

This year’s National Wreaths Across America Day will take place on December 19 and will, as always, call for the remembrance and honor of our nation’s veterans by laying wreaths on their headstones. As part of the partnership with Wreaths Across America, Cowan will once again deploy their fleet to deliver wreaths to 12 veteran cemeteries located throughout Maryland and Connecticut.

“We are so grateful to be a long standing partner with Wreaths across America — it is our absolute honor to carry thousands of wreaths to many veteran cemeteries up and down the east coast. At the end of the day, our goal isn’t notoriety or to boast that we’re helping Wreaths across America. We have one goal — to help the cause and to make sure no soldier goes forgotten. We will continue to say their name and preach alongside WAA — Remember, Honor, and Teach,” said Tomlinson.

“Each and every year — we deliver 672 boxes containing 18,144 wreaths to those 12 cemeteries,” the company said.

Cowan is also proud to have sponsored Section 7A of Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia for the past several years. They’re taking a break from the beloved tradition this year due to COVID-19 concerns, but the company plans to continue in the future to send more than 70 Cowan employees to make the yearly trek to the cemetery to lay wreaths on the headstones.

Wreaths Across America was formed as a non-profit 501-(c)(3) organization in 2007 and organizes the transportation and distribution of hundreds of thousands of wreaths to military cemeteries across the United States each year.

Cowan Systems LLC is an award-winning motor carrier founded in 1924 that has steadily grown to operate more than 2000 trucks and 6000 trailers, providing dedicated truckload, intermodal, warehousing, brokerage, and driver staffing services to clients across the country.
