Two hurt in 10 semi truck pileup on I-40

Authorities in New Mexico say that there is no estimated time for reopening following a serious 10 vehicle pileup that shut down a major interstate.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) has provided new information on a crash that has shut down a portion of eastbound I-40 near Sedillo Hill, New Mexico, since the early morning hours on Wednesday.

“10 semi trucks have been involved in crashes since 2:30am this morning. 2 patients were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Scene is still active, no estimated time for the roads to open. Expect delays for most the day … I-40 eastbound headed to Tijeras is in bad shape. Traffic is backed up for miles. Please avoid traveling in this direction as eastbound travel is restricted between exit 175 at Tijeras to the 181 exit. Semi trucks and other vehicles are bumper to bumper, all lanes, for miles.” BCSO stated via Twitter around noon.
