Video shows truck looted in Chicago

Published:

Civil unrest continues in Chicago — and truck drivers are finding themselves unable to avoid looters.

Since midnight on Monday, groups have been looting businesses in the downtown Chicago area in the wake of a police-involved shooting.

As a result, two people were shot, more than 100 people were arrested, and 13 police officers were hurt in the early morning hours as crowds broke store windows and stole items.

City officials temporarily raised bridges and closed roadways to limit access to the downtown Chicago area. A curfew will be in place tonight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for downtown Chicago.

Several social media users have posted video showing truck drivers clashing with — or being looted by — people on Chicago streets.

Multiple social media users have shared video of people looting trucks at Madison and Pulaski.

For months now, truckers have found themselves on the front lines of protests and demonstrations against police brutality in the wake of the death of George Floyd.
