Videos show escaped pigs stop traffic as they wander down Virginia highway

A group of pigs escaped from a trailer on Wednesday causing traffic backups and lane closures on I-95 in Virginia.

Virginia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kelly Hannon said the first reports of pigs running loose on the interstate in Spotsylvania County came in around 1 p.m.

Witnesses posted videos on Facebook of the pigs running down the interstate and wandering around vehicles.

All but one of the hogs were rounded up and returned to the trailer near the Thornburg exit. The last pig made it all the way across the county line in Caroline before being captured.

Rounding up the pigs caused lane closures and approximately 2 miles of traffic backup.
