Wisconsin DOT calls out motorist for snowmobile hauling fail

Published:

Wisconsin transportation officials had stern words for a car driver caught dangerously hauling a snowmobile earlier this week.

The questionable snowmobile transport operation was spotted on November 1 on U.S. 63 in Polk County, Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WSDOT) commented, “Don’t try this at home. This isn’t a safe way to transport a snowmobile. If you’re transporting equipment this winter, you are advised to safely haul it secured on a trailer or in a truck.”

Local news outlet the Star Tribune reports that the motorist, 23 year old Matthew R. Schmit was cited for failure to wear a seatbelt and issued a warning for his “over width” load.
