122K Freightliner Cascadias, Western Star trucks recalled for possible engine stall defect

Published:

Daimler Trucks North America has issued a recall for more than 100,000 trucks for a battery cable defect.

The recall is for certain 2019-2022 Freightliner Cascadia P4, 2021 Western Star WH126, 2020 Western Star WJ121, and 2021-2022 Western Star 49X vehicles.

The total number of trucks affected by the recall is 122,056.

According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) documents, the recalled trucks have a defect that could cause the battery cable terminal to break, resulting in a loss of electrical power and unintended engine stall. This, in turn, increases the chance of a crash.

Daimler is expected to notify truck owners of the recall starting on August 23, 2021. Dealers will repair or replace the battery cables, free of charge.

If you have questions about the recall, truck owners may contact Daimler customer service at 1-800-547-0712 and reference recall number FL-893.
