84 migrants discovered in 90’ degree trailer with plateless truck

84 migrants were found inside of a hot trailer in Texas late last week.

The incident happened at around 9:30 p.m. on September 16th at the Interstate 35 border checkpoint in Laredo, Texas.

According to LMT Online, a blue semi truck without license plates arrived at the checkpoint, where a K9 officer alerted to the presence of possible contraband, so the rig was referred to secondary inspection.

Agents identified the trucker as Demontrez Reynolds and began a secondary inspection, during which they noticed a lock and plastic seal on the trailer door, as well as a refrigeration unit that was off. Reynolds was also unable to provide a bill of lading.

When agents opened the trailer, they discovered 84 migrants inside of the 90’ trailer, but all were in good health.

Reynolds was placed under arrest and gave a statement admitting that he had been hired to drive the rig from Laredo to San Antonio for $4,000, and was given GPS coordinates for his loading location. He said during the loading he was unable to see what was being put inside of the trailer.

“Reynolds stated he had not received a drop off location, bill of lading, or any paperwork from (the person who hired him) or the subjects who loaded the trailer,” states the affidavit.

Reynolds has only possessed a CDL since 2019 and is now being charged with transport, attempt to transport and conspire to transport.
