9-month-old dead after overstuffed SUV collides with semi

Published:

A 9-month-old is dead after an SUV collided with a semi truck in Texas over the weekend.

The crash happened on Sunday, December 12th, just before 2 p.m. in Arlington, Texas but police were not made aware that the young boy had died until Tuesday, December 14th.

According to NBC DFW, an SUV carrying seven people, including a 9-month-old-boy sitting in a passenger’s lap, was traveling eastbound along US Highway 287 when it suddenly veered into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer. The big rig then struck the SUV and sent it skidding off the road, where it rolled multiple times down an embankment.

The force of the impact ejected the young boy and injured five others, although their injuries were considered non life threatening. All six were transported to a nearby hospital. The truck driver was also not seriously hurt.

Police were notified on Tuesday that the baby had died, but are still investigating the reasons behind the crash.
