Armed trucker arrested following five hour police standoff at Arkansas weigh station

Published:

Arkansas State Police say that a truck driver is facing charges following an hours-long stand off with police officers at a weigh station near Hope on Thursday.

The incident began shortly after 9 a.m. on April 8 at a weigh station off of I-30 in Hempstead County.

Police say that 33 year old Texas-based truck driver Flores Reynaldo pulled his truck into the weigh station. During the weigh and inspection process, officers discovered that Reynaldo was wanted on felony charges in Texas.

When officers attempted to take Reynaldo into custody, he reportedly fled to his truck and refused to leave, pointing a gun at one of the officers.

State police SWAT and negotiation teams were called to the weigh station.

Reynaldo surrendered to troopers about 2:15 p.m.

No one was hurt.

State police say that Reynaldo was armed with two handguns when he was barricaded inside the truck.

Reynaldo was charged with aggravated assault and is being held at the Hempstead County Detention Center.
