Border Patrol says trucker was attacked by undocumented immigrants at Texas truck stop

Published:

U.S. Border Patrol says that three people were apprehended after attacking a truck driver on Friday.

The incident occurred on Friday morning at a truck stop in Encinal, Texas, according to a news release from U.S. Border Patrol — Laredo Sector.

Authorities say that as the truck driver was resting in his vehicle, he heard people try to climb into his windjammer. When he stepped out of the truck to investigate, three individuals ran away.

“A short time later, the driver observed the same three subjects attempting to climb back into the windjammer.  The driver exited the cab again, with a flashlight in hand, to confront the three individuals. As the driver walked to the front of the tractor, he alleged that the three individuals rushed him. The driver stated that he began swinging his flashlight to defend himself.  The driver witnessed the three subjects run towards I-35.  La Salle County Sheriff’s Office were contacted and responded to the scene,” Border Patrol said.

When authorities responded, they were able to locate three people hiding behind a store. Two of the people were bleeding from head injuries and admitted that they were struck by the truck driver during the altercation.

Police later confirmed that the three individuals were from Mexico and had entered the U.S. illegally.
