Child killed while riding mini ATV through truck lot

A young boy was struck and killed at a truck repair shop in Pennsylvania on Wednesday, leaving his community reeling.

The accident happened in Delano at Brothers Truck Repair on Hazle Street.

According to ABC 16 News, the eight-year-old boy was riding a child-sized ATV through the parking lot of the shop when a semi truck entered the lot and turned into the garage, striking and killing the young boy.

Police say that the truck driver did not see the child, and the death has been ruled accidental. The boy’s father is an employee of the truck shop.

“Of course, being a mother and a grandmother, my hearts do go out to the family. It’s just so scary that things like this can happen so quickly,” said Kathleen Romanic, a local resident and grandmother to a young girl.

While the community mourns for the family, many say they feel for the truck driver as well.

“I can only imagine what the family and the driver are going through,” said Cody Price, a concerned father and community member.
