A ‘code red’ traffic alert has been issued for Interstate 65 in Tennessee this morning.

Interstate 65 southbound in Sumner County has been closed with no estimated time for reopening following a wreck and fuel spill near mile marker 103 and Williamson Road.

According to Fox 17, a semi truck jackknifed on the interstate and ruptured a fuel tank, leaking 150 gallons of fuel across the roadway. The cause of the jackknife is not clear.

As of 8:30 a.m., crews are working to soak up the spilled diesel and haul away the wrecked rig, but there is still no estimated time for reopening of I-65 southbound.

Traffic is currently backed up for miles and at a complete standstill.
