Confused sea lion found trekking across Washington highway

Why did the sea lion cross the road?

An unexpected marine animal was seen far from its natural habitat, venturing down a Washington highway last week.

State Patrol spotted the sea lion as it wandered along the highway just west of Grays River near Hull Creek Road.

“Look who got a little lost on SR 4 near Hull (Creek) Road this morning,” tweeted Trooper Chelsea Hodgson. “It’s understandable considering all the extra water everywhere!”

The sea creature was definitely an unusual sight for drivers and Trooper Hodgson took the opportunity to warn:

“You never know what – or in this case who – could be around the next corner.”

In a follow up tweet, Hodgson assured followers that the sealion was able to safely return to it’s marine home.
