Crane truck torn in two after driver forgets to lower boom

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) issued a “friendly reminder” after a crane truck driver’s unfortunate accident.

In a February 9 social media post, the CHP’s South Sacramento division issued a warning to crane truck drivers entering SR-99:

Friendly reminder from the South Sacramento CHP Area. If you are going to drive a crane truck, please make sure you lower the boom before entering SR-99. This driver forgot to lower the boom and struck the 12th Street and 5th Street overcrossings of southbound SR-99. The impacts tore the crane truck in two but luckily the driver walked away uninjured.
