Deceased trucker, dog discovered in roadside ditch hours after serious semi wreck

A trucker and his dog were found dead inside of their rig hours after a single-vehicle crash in Oklahoma early on Wednesday morning.

The accident happened just before 2 a.m. on June 23rd just east of Sallisaw.

According to ABC 4029 News, 75-year-old Clarence Cox was driving west on Interstate 40 when he apparently lost control, went into the grassy median, and nearly entered the wrong side of the highway before plunging down an embankment between the east and westbound side of the highway.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol says that both Cox and his dog died due to “massive injuries” suffered in the wreck.

“He was just a few feet from actually going eastbound in the westbound lanes,” explained OHP Trooper Tim Parrish.

“He had been there several hours before a passerby noticed it just after daybreak,” Parrish continued.

The cause of the serious wreck is still under investigation, but the wreckage has since been cleared.
