A delivery truck driver was run over by his own truck while attempting a repair in Florida on Thursday.
The accident happened at around 3:20 p.m. in southwest Miami-Dade, Florida at SW 58th Street and SW 97th Avenue.
According to Local 10 News, the 34-year-old FedEx delivery driver was out of his truck delivering packages along his route by foot. When he returned to the truck, the truck wouldn’t start, so the driver went to the front of the vehicle to attempt a repair. As the driver attempted the repair, the truck began to roll forward. The man then tried to dodge the moving vehicle but failed, and the truck ran him over, pinned him, and dragged him along the roadway.
Bystanders saw what happened and were able to get the man out from under the vehicle while first responders arrived. The driver was then transported to a nearby hospital in what was described as ‘extremely critical condition.’
“Right now we are holding out for hope,” said Detective Chris Thomas of the Miami-Dade Police Department. “We pray for his family that they get to be thankful this Christmas and not be enduring some sort of tragedy.”
