Driver fatally shot while barricading himself in semi truck


A truck driver was shot and killed at his own home in New Mexico over the weekend. 

The incident occurred on March 21st in Midway, New Mexico. 

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, police were attempting to serve arrest warrants to 31-year-old trucker Sergio Gutierrez Chairez at his home when he barricaded himself inside of his parked semi truck. As a result, one of the officers fired at least one shot, killing Chairez on scene.

It is not clear if Chairez was an immediate threat at the time of the shooting. The nature of his warrants have not been released. 

The incident is still under investigation and the New Mexico State Police have not disclosed the identities of the officers involved.
