Driver perishes in seven vehicle, construction related pile-up

A truck driver is dead after a seven vehicle pile up crash in a construction zone in Texas on Sunday. 

The accident happened on November 28th east of Van Horn, Texas. 

According to El Paso Times, 63-year-old trucker, Juan Lopez Martinez, was traveling along Interstate 10 when he entered a construction zone where traffic was slowed and merging into one lane. Martinez then failed to slow in time and struck the back of a 2017 Freightliner, sparking a chain reaction crash with five other vehicles. 

Nine people were injured in the chain reaction crash, but only Martinez was killed in the wreck. The extent of the surviving people’s injuries are not known. 

No further information has been released.
