Driver “very shaken” after fatal collision with pedestrian

A male pedestrian is dead after being struck by a semi truck in British Columbia on Wednesday night. 

The incident occurred on October 20th  at 9:49 p.m. in Abbotsford. 

According to Peace Arch News, the accident happened in the westbound lanes between Sumas Way and McCallum Road. It is not clear why the pedestrian was in the roadway. 

Officials say that the man was initially transported to a hospital by paramedics, but soon died of his injuries. Police are working to determine the man’s identity. 

The truck driver was not injured and remained on scene. Officers say they were “very shaken by this incident.”

Police are now seeking witnesses to the collision. Anyone who may have seen the incident or collected footage of the incident is urged to call 604-859-5225.
