Drowsy driving causes crash that leaves semi truck burning on shoulder of interstate

A sleepy trucker lost control of their rig in Maine on Sunday, leaving a flaming rig burning on the side of the interstate. 

The accident happened on Sunday, May 23rd at around 4:09 a.m. in Kittery, Maine. 

According to Sea Coast Online, 65-year-old Eric Morris was driving south along Interstate 95 near mile marker 1.5 when he fell asleep, veered off the roadway, struck a guardrail, and overturned in the center median, causing his rig to burst into flames. 

Morris was able to escape the rig on his own, and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital with non life threatening injuries. 

The rig was hauling bottles of water at the time of the crash. The incident has since been cleared.
