Louisiana transportation officials are warning truck drivers to avoid a portion of eastbound I-10 near New Orleans after a truck fire damaged a bridge earlier this week.
The eastbound left lane on the I-10 Bonnet Carre Spillway Bridge at milepost 218 near I-310 south in St. Charles Parish is closed due to a large truck fire that occurred on September 20. The truck driver was able to get out of the vehicle safely and no injuries were reported.

“Trucks traveling I-10 eastbound to New Orleans should take I-12 either in Baton Rouge or at I-55 north in LaPlace because truck traffic is closed at this location. All through traffic is advised not to use US 61 because of the need for Hurricane Ida response,” the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development said.
The left lane remains closed on the I-10 E at MM 218 (Bonnet Carre Bridge, St. Charles Parish). ALL trucks traveling I-10 E to New Orleans MUST use I-12. All through traffic is advised not to use US 61 because of the need for Hurricane Ida response. https://t.co/dkoqkG8QhG
