A motorcyclist is dead and another man is seriously injured after a crash started by a deer caused a collision with a semi truck.
The series of events happened on Monday morning, October 18th in Bartholomew County, Indiana.
According to 13 WTHR News, Marcus Grayson was riding his motorcycle along northbound Interstate 65 just before 2 a.m. when he struck a deer, throwing him from his motorcycle and leaving him injured in the roadway. Three motorists, Todd Loquercio, Jamila Jenkins-Newson, and Adam Whyde, witnessed the crash and stopped to help. As the three were attempting to help the injured Grayson, an oncoming semi truck driven by Lee Muller attempted to avoid the unexpected people in the road but was unsuccessful. The rig then crashed into two cars and the motorcycle, and struck Grayson and Whyde, who were both in the roadway.
Grayson was killed in the crash with the semi truck. Whyde was seriously injured and was transported to a nearby hospital with substantial injuries. Loquercio was struck by debris from the crash and was treated for minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Toxicology reports for the incident are still pending, and officials are still investigating.
