The PBS American Portrait series recently highlighted the efforts of female team truck drivers who are striving to maximize time with their families while meeting the demands of the road.
The video debuted on January 12 as part of a larger series PBS American Portrait episode on “Work.”
The video takes an in-depth look at a driver named Laura, who turned to trucking to provide for her family. Laura says she loves the freedom of the road but worries about the time she spends away from her family.
“I work long hours. I drive lots of miles. That part doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t. It’s being away from my son and my husband that bothers me more,” Laura said.
