Family-owned Wilson Logistics to be acquired by furniture retail giant

A Missouri-based trucking company has entered into an acquisition agreement with an affiliate of Ashley Furniture.

Springfield, Missouri-based carrier Wilson Logistics will be acquired by Ashley Distribution Services (ADS), the transportation provider for retailer Ashley Furniture.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of 2021, according to multiple reports.

“This acquisition is expected to expand ADS’ brokerage and distribution operations in the western United States. We are excited to welcome members of the Wilson team as we continue to service existing customers and expand upon the strong legacy established by Wilson,” an Ashley Furniture representative said.

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) SAFER website, Wilson Logistics operates 1,044 trucks and employs 1,142 drivers.

Wilson began operations as Wil-Trans in 1990 and has terminals in Springfield, Missouri; Missoula, Montana; Pacific and Yakima, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Tracy, California; and Garland, Texas,

Ashley Furniture began developing private fleet Ashley Distribution Services (ADS) in 1974. ADS is currently comprised of more than 900 tractors and 3,700 trailers, making it one of the industry’s largest private fleets.
