High schooler killed in crash with semi that ran stop sign

Published:

A high school football player was killed in a crash with a semi truck that ran a stop sign on Thursday evening.

The crash happened on August 26th at around 6:45 p.m. in Fresno County, California.

According to the Fresno Bee, a semi truck was traveling north on Walnut when it ran a stop sign and collided with a pickup driven by a 17-year-old football player. The force of the impact sent the pickup beneath the truck’s trailer, trapping the boy inside.

First responders say that the boy was still alive when they arrived, but died as they worked to remove him from the mangled vehicle.

The truck driver was not hurt and is cooperating with investigators.

The reason behind the crash is still unknown, but investigating officers do not believe that drugs or alcohol were involved in the case of either driver, reported ABC 30.
