Hundreds of Western Star and Freightliner trucks recalled for ‘unapproved tires’

Published:

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) will recall more than 400 trucks for noncompliant tires.

DTNA recently announced a recall for certain model 2011-2022 Freightliner SD 108, Freightliner SD 114, 2016 Freightliner Coronado, 2011-2022 Western Star 4900, Western Star 6900, 2013-2022 Western Star 4700, and 2022 49X vehicles.

According to the recall documents, the vehicles affected by the recall are equipped with “tires and rims are not approved and rated for these vehicles from the Tire and Rim Association or tire manufacturer” and are not in compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

Officials say that the unapproved tires could lead to performance issues and increase the risk of a crash.

A total of 413 vehicles are affected by this recall.

Truck owners will be notified by mail on January 15, 2022. A remedy for the defect is still in development.

Truck owners who have questions about the recall may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 and reference recall number FL-908.
