Iconic ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ General Lee car taken out by Hurricane Ida

A major piece of automotive cinema history was damaged by the wrath of Hurricane Ida.

One of the orange 1969 Dodge Chargers dubbed “General Lee” from the beloved 1980’s television series “The Dukes of Hazzard” was crushed by a tree after Hurricane Ida rolled through Louisiana. A second General Lee appears to have been carried by into a tree by the hurricane, but this is actually a sign on top of the studio.

The famous car was on a property owned by “Dukes of Hazzard” star John Schneider, who played Bo Duke.

Schneider shared the bad news in a social media post on August 31.

Well… When something like this happens you have two choices: Tears and laughter. I choose laughter.
So… What’s your caption? Here’s mine:
“ Miss Ida stopped by to see the General at Miss Shirley’s last night…
” Schneider wrote.

Schneider says that he was uninsured and is hoping that fans will purchase items from JohnSchneiderStudios.com to help with his company’s recover efforts.

Schneider has been a major advocate for hurricane relief and is holding a benefit concert for first responders on September 11.

While Schneider is perhaps best known for his turn as Bo Duke, he’s been cranking out pro-trucker music and movie content for years. Schneider donated a portion of the proceeds from his 2021 album “Truck On” to the  St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, a charity organization that provides financial relief for truckers and their families who are in need.
