‘Major’ commercial vehicle enforcement blitz starts today on 3 Arizona interstates

Law enforcement agencies in Arizona are kicking off a three-day commercial vehicle enforcement effort.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) announced this week that multiple agencies are participating in an enforcement effort called “Operation Southern Shield” from Tuesday, March 2 through Friday, March 5.

During Operation Southern Shield, officers with AZDPS Commercial Vehicle Enforcement will join forces with the Arizona Department of Transportation, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and local law enforcement to patrol I-10, I-8, and I-19 in the southern part of the state.

According to AZDPS, “This detail will target hazardous violations, conduct commercial vehicle inspections, maintain awareness for human trafficking, and educate drivers on safe & compliant operation.”
