Authorities in Mississippi have arrested a man in connection with an interstate shooting that occurred last week.

On January 18, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) announced that Markea C. Simmons, 25, had been arrested in connection with a semi truck shooting on I-55 last week in Yazoo County. MBI says that he has been charged with Attempted Murder and Drive By Shooting.

The shooting incident occurred on Friday, January 15, around 1:00 p.m.

Police said that a male suspect in a blue Chevrolet Tahoe traveling north on I-55 shot multiple rounds into the cab of a semi truck that was also northbound on I-55.

The truck driver wasn’t hurt and was able to pull over onto the shoulder to call 911.

MBI says that Simmons was arrested on January 16 following further investigation into the shooting.

He was held at the Yazoo County Correctional Facility and is currently awaiting his first court appearance.
