A suspect has been arrested on multiple charges in connection with a shooting targeting a big rig in April.

Armonii M. Russell, 24, has been charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravate discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle, unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer, according to Illinois State Police (ISP).

The shooting took place on the afternoon of April 27, 2021, on northbound I-94 (Dan Ryan Expressway) in Chicago.

Police say that Russell opened fire on a semi truck driven by a 26 year old Illinois resident.

The truck was hit by gunfire, but the truck driver wasn’t hurt.

On April 28, ISP attempted to make contact with Russell regarding the shooting, but he fled from officers on foot.

An arrest warrant for Russell was issued on November 11.

Russell was arrested following a traffic stop on November 23. He is being held without bond in the Cook County Jail.
