Man crushed by rolling rig in construction site accident

Published:

Police are calling one man’s death a “freak accident” after he was crushed by a semi truck at a construction site on Monday morning.

The unnamed man was crushed beneath a big rig’s tires on February 1st at around 9 a.m. in San Antonio, Texas.

According to KSAT News, the man was airing up a tire on a piece of construction equipment at a site alongside Highway 90 just east of Highway 211 when he was crushed by the rolling big rig, which had been parked.

Witnesses say the man attempted to move out of the way of the moving truck but fell as he ran, and the truck ran him over.

“I really haven’t gotten close to it so I really don’t even know what happened or what’s going on. But from what I can it’s not good,” said Pete Zamora, the man’s co-worker.

Investigators say that the man was not the driver of the truck, and that no one was behind the wheel at the time of the incident.

“Things could happen, change in the spur of the moment. It was a tragic accident,” Zamora said.

Police are still investigating and the victim’s name has not been released.
