Truck driver died from self-inflicted gunshot wound following inspection

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety (MCDPS) has released additional information about a shooting incident that occurred in a mall parking lot in Rochester.

According to MNDPS, three state troopers stopped a truck driver for an inspection around 6:45 a.m. on Wednesday. When the drivers was unable to produce identification, troopers reportedly tried to take the driver into custody.

Authorities say that it was at this point that the driver shot himself.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital and was later pronounced dead.

No troopers were injured. No police officers fired their weapons.

The incident remains under investigation.

Authorities in Minnesota are investigating after a man inside a semi truck reportedly shot himself in a shopping mall parking lot on Wednesday morning.

The shooting reportedly occurred around 8:30 a.m. at the Miracle Mile Shopping Center off Highway 14 in Rochester, Minnesota.

According to multiple outlets, a man inside a flatbed truck shot himself in an apparent suicide attempt.

It isn’t clear whether he survived.

The Minnesota State Patrol says that no law enforcement officer opened fire and no police officers were injured.

Authorities have not released information on what led to the shooting.
