Maryland truck stop to receive a major makeover

Plans for the renovation of a truck stop complex were okayed by the planning commission in Maryland this week.

The truck stop complex is located at 436 E. Main St. in Hancock, Maryland off of Interstate 70 at Exit 3.

Currently, the truck stop features a restaurant and fueling station, but the new site plans call for an extensive convenience store, an IHOP restaurant, a large Burger King, and more than 40 truck parking spaces, reported The Herald-Mail.

“All of this is going to be new construction,” said Ashley Holloway, director of plan review and permitting.

In addition to the truck stop complex, plans for a truck parking area with 109 spaces just down the street on Governor Lane Boulevard have been okayed.

Between the truck stop plaza and the new truck parking lot, at least 149 new truck parking spots will soon be available in the area.
