Published:

A motorist claims that his collision with a utility pole was started by a road-raging trucker just before dawn on Monday.

The incident occurred on October 25th just after 1:30 a.m. in Ramsey, New Jersey.

According to Mahwah-Ramsey Daily Voice, the 20-year-old motorist was heading south on Route 17 when he got into a road rage altercation with a semi truck. The unnamed motorist says that the big rig cut him off, causing him to lose control, run off the road, and crash into a utility pole, downing wires across the roadway.

The motorist says that the tractor trailer then drove off, leaving the scene.

The motorist suffered non life threatening injuries in the wreck, and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Route 17 was closed in both directions for several hours as crews worked to clear the downed wires. The roadway was completely reopened by 5 a.m.

Upon investigation, police discovered that the motorist had previously received a summons for driving on the revoked list.
