Motorist “driving fast with a little alcohol in her system” dies after slamming into back of semi truck

Published:

One woman is dead after crashing into the back of a stopped semi truck in New York City early on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened on July 13th at around 3 a.m. in Queens, New York City.

33-year-old Evelissa Santos Paulino was speeding on the Clearview Expressway near the Hillside Ave. exit in Queens Village when she hit a curb, lost control, and crashed into the back of an idling tractor trailer, causing her car to explode into flames.

Paulino was already deceased by the time firefighters put out the flames. The truck driver was not hurt in the accident.

“She was a good woman. She held down two jobs. She was a house cleaner and an Uber driver,” her husband, Alan Cerda, 34, told the Daily News

“We have a 9-year-old daughter. She knows nothing about it. She’s too young. We don’t know how to tell her,” Cerda continued.

Paulino’s brother-in-law said that she was “driving fast with a little alcohol in her system” when she hit a curb and lost control.

The truck driver was not cited for the incident.
