Motorist fled after shooting trucker in the face with BB gun, Georgia cops say

Published:

Police are searching for a suspect who fired on a truck driver during a suspected road rage incident in Chatham County, Georgia, on Friday morning.

The shooting was reported around 6:30 a.m. on southbound I-95 in the Richmond Hill area, according to the Chatham County Police Department.

The victim truck driver told police that he had passed a blue Ford Focus just a few moments before the shooting.

“The victim stated when the car caught up to him, the driver hung out of the window and fired his weapon – striking the driver of the truck in the face. The victim says this occurred while he was driving approximately 70 mph somewhere between Hwy 204 and the bridge leading into Bryan County,” police said.

The truck driver was able to safely pull over at the Love’s Truck Stop in Richmond Hill to call police.

The truck driver was treated by EMS at the scene for minor injuries.

Police believe that the motorist fired a BB gun based on the injuries sustained by the truck driver.

Authorities are on the lookout for a black male with cornrows last seen driving a blue Ford Focus south on I-95.
