A motorist was killed in Ohio on Wednesday morning after a steel coil “became unsecured” from the truck transporting it, according to police.
The fatal crash was reported around 6:20 a.m. on September 15 in St. Clair Township, Ohio.

A truck carrying a load of steel coil was northbound on S.R. 127 when “the steel coil became unsecured, falling off the semi bed, into the southbound lanes of travel,” the Butler County Sheriff’s Office said.
The steel coil struck a Ford Edge in the southbound lanes of S.R. 127.
The driver of the Ford died at the scene.
“These are very difficult scenes to respond to. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased at this time,” Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said in a news release.
The incident remains under investigation. Police say that more information will be released pending the notification of next of kin.
