Motorist killed by fast-moving semi truck after stepping out of disabled vehicle

A motorist was killed on an interstate in Indiana this morning after stepping out of his disabled car and into the path of a semi truck. 

The accident happened on Monday, March 8th at around 2:50 a.m. near Austin, Indiana. 

According to WBIW News, 25-year-old Stefan Porch was driving on Interstate 65 northbound with five passengers in his vehicle when it collided with either a semi truck or a box truck. That vehicle quickly fled the scene, but Porch’s vehicle was left diabled in the middle of the highway. Porch then exited his vehicle and stepped out onto the highway, straight into the path of an oncoming semi truck. 

The trucker, Barbaro Trizan Cuellar, was unable to avoid hitting Porch, but was not injured in the crash. 

When officers arrived on scene, Porch was pronounced dead, and his four passengers were transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation of potential injuries from the first crash. No significant injuries were found. 

The incident is still under investigation and police urge anyone with potential information on the driver of the truck in the first crash ti please contact Indiana State Police Sellersburg Post.
