Motorist’s failed attempt to pass semi truck ends with 8 people in hospital

Eight people were sent to the hospital early Friday morning after a motorist attempted to pass a semi truck and failed.

The accident happened on August 13th at around 3:50 a.m. near Twin Falls, Idaho.

According to Magic Valley News, 22-year-old Yoselin S. Mendez was driving a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder north on US 93 when she attempted to pass a semi truck driven by 34-year-old Harsimrat S. Grewal. As Medez was attempting to pass the rig, they collided head-on with a southbound Cadillac Sedan driven by 33-year-old Nicolas B. Morgan.

The force of the impact sent Mendez and their five passengers to a nearby hospital. Morgan and their passenger were also transported to a hospital following the wreck, making for a grand total of eight people injured in the wreck.

Truck driver Grewal was not hurt in the incident.

A portion of the highway was shut down for approximately five hours as crews worked to investigate the incident and clear the wreckage.
